HTC Acquires Mobile Communications Test Lab CGC
May 04, 2007
Taiwan's HTC (High Tech Computer) has invested NT$280 million (US$8.4 million; US$1 = NT$3.4) in acquiring CGC (Communication Global Certification), a mobile communications test laboratory. Located in Taoyuan County of Taiwan, CGC's main operations involve the testing and certification of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution), and WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phones. With the acquisition, HTC has incorporated CGC as a wholly-owned unit, which is expected to facilitate HTC's mobile phone certification process.
